During 2015, Feed Christ’s Lambs brought 4 Christian movies to Emporia.
February 14, 2015 – Old Fashioned (500)
March 20, 2015 – Do You Believe? (500)
August 28, 2015 – War Room (750)
October 16, 2015 – Woodlawn (500)
Each of these movies required a certain number of tickets be pre-purchased or guaranteed through our local B&B Flinthills 8 movie theatre to the releasing company. The releasing companies require this minimum in order to be the best stewards possible of the finances with which God has blessed them. The number in parenthesis indicates the number of tickets required to bring each movie to Emporia. Those minimum number of tickets are guaranteed by Feed Christ’s Lambs in prior to the movie. If the movie reaches the minimum number of ticket sales at Emporia’s theatre, then the all of the money fronted for bringing the movie to Emporia is refunded to Feed Christ’s Lambs.
However, once we commit to a movie, Feed Christ’s Lambs has to promote the movie so that the minimum number of tickets will be sold in order to recoup the initial investment (required ticket purchase). To do so, flyers, posters, business cards, and letters are printed to distribute. These items are sent to churches, hung in businesses, and handed out to promote the movie. Tickets are also purchased by Feed Christ’s Lambs and given away on local radio stations such as KJIL 91.9, KVOE, and Country 101.7 to help promote the movie. Mailing costs are incurred when items are mailed to churches also. Each movie generally results in approximately $500 worth of promotional costs. Challenges like the one issued with Woodlawn also contribute to promotional costs. In 2015, the total money spent in the process of bringing these Christian movies to Emporia and not recovered by Feed Christ’s Lambs was approximately $3000. For 2016, receipts for Feed Christ’s Expenses will be turned into the Christian Movie Support Fund mentioned above for reimbursement, as the fund balance allows.
This year, 2016, is already presenting exciting opportunities. On February 19, 2015, “Risen”, will show in Emporia. This movie is being released by AFFIRM Films and being brought to Emporia without assistance from Feed Christ’s Lambs, although we did see an advance screening of the movie back in 2015. “Risen” may be able to reach non-believers in a way that some movies accused of “preaching to the choir” by non-believers can’t. I am interested to see what God does with “Risen”. Feed Christ’s Lambs will be bringing “God’s Not Dead 2”. Some of us from Feed Christ’s Lambs will be watching “God’s Not Dead 2” on January 26, 2016 in preparation for promoting it for its April 1, 2016 release. Feed Christ’s Lambs will also be watching an advance screening of “Miracles from Heaven” on February 2, 2016. At the screening, we will find out if “Miracles from Heaven” is coming to Emporia on its own or if whether it will require support from Feed Christ’s Lambs. If it requires our support, we will have to pray and try to determine if it will be able to meet its minimum ticket requirement opening on March 18, 2016 just a few weeks prior to “God’s Not Dead 2.” We hope that there will be many more and that they will impact the lives of people in Emporia and the surrounding communities.
If you feel led to donate, Thank you for your support and God Bless!
